Online betting in Italy explained. Football in Italy is huge, as is the online gambling market. The government has relaxed gaming regulations, allowing any interested gaming company to easily obtain a license and participate. For this reason, there are many betting sites in Italy. In this article, we will discuss the most important factors to consider when choosing the right betting site that accepts Italian players and residents. Sports betting is one of the most popular forms of gambling in Italy. The Italian sports betting industry has seen huge growth in recent years after the government legalized online gambling in 2006. There are brick-and-mortar gaming shops all over Italy, but the country's online gaming industry is growing exponentially. Before 2006, Italy was off-limits to online gambling. The government issued a decree in 2006 to open up the Italian market, following the EU's infringement proceedings against non-Italian bookmakers. There are currently many online betting sites (local and international) in Italy that offer the same great service as in the UK so you can find more information. Online gambling is legal in Italy because the government has an agency, Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli, that works to ensure the licensing and supervision of gaming activities in the country. Due to its liberal attitude towards gambling, there are many online gambling sites in Italy. By paying €200,000 and a 24% tax on the bookmaker's gross gaming revenue, the bookmaker was granted a nine-year license to operate in the Italian market. This means that online gambling is legal at any Italian bookmaker of your choice, and Italian bettors (or any non-resident of Italy) can choose from many bookmakers.
